autumn bucket list

20 Things I’m Looking Forward To This Autumn

Steve starts his new job today (ironically I have off of work for an American holiday today – just our luck).  I’ve got loads of “life admin” to do, like taking my drivers tests, and figure out a new routine since I’ve gotten used to Steve being home all the time.  It’s going to be so weird having him go back to work but ya know, gotta get them bills paid.  We’ve also started talking about where we want to be in a year’s time, and have narrowed down some steps that we need to take towards getting on the property ladder (eventually).  I’m also in the process of sorting out exactly what I want career-wise – whether to stay at my current job or look for another one.  So yea, I smell a lot of changes coming up,  just in time for autumn!  How fitting, no?

I couldn’t be more excited for this season to roll around, especially after the summer that we’ve had.  Lots of ups and downs, heat (dear god I’m so glad that’s over), and well, just A LOT going on.  Do I imagine life getting any less hectic?  Not at all.  But the idea of one season gone and another one upon us excites the hell out of me.  Especially because it’s AUTUMN A.K.A the best season ever.  Especially when you’re basic af, like me.  And I hope that you are because if you are then we will get along GREAT.

There are so many things that I used to do in NJ with my family and friends during the autumn season.  We’d go apple or pumpkin picking, have cocktails outside after dark alongside a burning firepit, snuggled up in our comfiest sweatshirts, and bake so many different goodies for things like Thanksgiving and Christmas.

If you’re wondering if this is going to be a list post, well then you’re ABSOLUTELY RIGHT.  Here are the things I’m looking forward to this autumn:

  1. Cooler weather
  2. Buying every single chunky knit sweater I can get my grubby little hands on
  3. Also, add booties to the above
  4. Enjoying PSLs in said sweater and booties
  5. Walks outside in the changing foliage
  6. Dark nail polish (and lipstick for that matter)
  7. Watching Hocus Pocus a million times over
  8. Baking (specifically anything containing apples, pumpkins, and/or cinnamon or anything in pie form)
  9. Recreating my favorite “autumn-inspired” cocktail
  10. Drinking lots of apple cider
  11. Going apple and/or pumpking picking (if I can get Steve on board LOL)
  12. Cozy days inside while it pours down with rain
  13. Preparing for Christmas (yikes)
  14. Make limoncello (not really “autumn” related but I’ve been obsessed with creating/perfecting a great homemade recipe; plus it takes a few weeks to create, so I figured this would be a GREAT Christmas gift idea)
  15. Visiting a million outdoor markets
  16. Prepare a traditional Thanksgiving dinner (I really think I’m overestimating myself with this one but we’ll see how this goes)
  17. Black Friday shopping
  18. Go on a haunted/ghost tour in London
  19. Harry Potter movie marathons
  20. London Oktoberfest

What are some of your favorite “autumn-related” things?

xx Lauren

  • Fall is my FAVORITE. (It helps that my birthday is smack dab in the middle of October), but I love love love the sweaters and darker colors of lipstick! I just moved to the southern US, so I don’t think sweaters are in the cards for me this year 🙁

    • So excited for all the great fashion and beauty trends that fall brings! Girl, crank up that AC and lounge away in all the comfy sweaters you have!

  • Yes to Autumn clothing – my tartan scarf, baker boy cap and all the jewelly, autumnal shades. Also, the return of gigs once festival season is over! We’ve got loads in the pipeline between now and the end of the year x

  • Yes to all these things!! Autumn is bar far my favourite time of year and I can’t wait until we get into later September and into October. 🍂🍁💗

  • I absolutely have your no.7 on my list as well lol! My favorite thing about autumn would probably have to be Halloween because, for whatever reason, it is such a nostalgic holiday for me!

    • I think that’s why I love autumn so much! The whole season just feels like nothing but nostalgia <3

  • Autumn is definitely my favourite season! I’m loving being able to wear jumpers again – and I put the fire on for the first time last night, which was so cosy!

    • I’m loving it too! It was so chilly that we had to put the heating on! Love how cozy this time of year is xx
