So it’s been a little bit of time since I’ve posted a life update on here. Let me tell ya, life is good, guys. Like, really good. I’m a little ray of sunshine just bursting with excitement lately.
For starters, after 9 months of living in the U.K., I finally got a new job! The job hunt has been painstakingly depressing over the past few months. I sent out hundreds of CVs, talked to several recruiters, and did not get one bloody interview or even a response back on ANY of the jobs I applied for. I don’t know if it was something that I had on my CV, or if anyone thought I actually was a permanent resident, but it was so frustrating. I was honestly beginning to lose hope, until a company reached out to me a few weeks ago for an interview. And the rest is history. I’m so excited to start this new job. I’ll be able to have a bit more of a normal life. Plus the exchange rate has been creeping up ever so slightly lately, making me literally cringe every time I need to transfer currencies.
With this new job, it means that Steve and I will be able to save up more money for a down payment slightly quicker than expected. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still going to take a while before we can afford to actually start the process of becoming homeowners, but it adds just that little glimmer of hope that our wait won’t be as long as we originally expected it.
Something else that has actually surprised me, is that my blog is doing a lot better lately than I expected it to. I’ve started landing some small work with brands. It’s not much, but I feel like it’s just the stepping stone for greater things. I’m hoping that I’m able to keep up with things while trying to get acclimated to a new job.
I’m liking this whole “life going well” thing. Fingers crossed things keep looking up.
