Life has been very hectic lately. In addition to working 8 hours every day, there has also been a lot of added stress from things like: preparing for my sister’s visit; getting things in order for our trip to Spain; car troubles (just had to replace two tires yay!); trying to juggle blogging with a full-time job; keeping on top of daily tasks like housework, cooking, etc. Yea, you get the idea And, with added stress comes the lovely side-effect of breakouts. Which is great timing, since we have a vacation coming up (as said before). The last thing I want is to be covered in spots all over my chin as I’m enjoying the sun in Spain, taking pictures! So, when Tria Beauty kindly sent me their Positively Clear Blue Light treatment, let me tell you – it could not have come at a more PERFECT time. Many thanks to Tria for saving my skin!
The first thing I noticed when the Positively Clear came to me was the sleek packaging it came in. Not gonna lie, I’m a sucker for aesthetically pleasing packaging. It came nestled neatly with instructions, treatment area guides, and a charging cable along with a European adapter. So, yes, this will be coming with me to Spain. Because now I can’t go a day without using it.
I glanced through the instructions, but it’s pretty straightforward how to use it. You simply just turn the device on and apply to the skin. Once it touches the skin, a fan will turn on and it will emit a warm, blue light. You run the device over the area that you want to treat for five minutes, using circular motions. Don’t worry if you take it away from your skin for a second and it goes off. It’s designed to start right back up again and continue the treatment time. You can use the treatment area guides, as well. They are the small circular stickers that came in the box. I don’t feel the need to use them, but it’s totally up to you. Once the five minutes are up, the device will beep and turn off. Then you just move on to the next area and repeat all of that over again. As I said, pretty straightforward.
One thing I do recommend is not to hold it too hard against the skin, particularly in one spot without moving, as it may become uncomfortably hot. I did that the first time and was left with a large red spot on my chin (no worries though, because it went away after a bit). Also, the usual “cleanse your face before using” instruction applies (obviously).
A bit on how the device actually works – the secret (well, not really a secret), is in the blue light. This is actually something that many dermatologists use to treat skin. The light goes below the skin’s surface to not only treat acne that’s already there, but to remove the build-up of the bacteria that actually causes acne in the first place.
I used the Tria Positively Clear mainly on my chin, as that is my problem area. The site says that you should see results in about two weeks, but to be honest, I started seeing results before then. The acne on my chin was disappearing quickly, but what I was more surprised at was how my skin felt afterwards. My skin was not only blemish-free, but also SO SMOOTH, GUYS. If I’m being honest, I expected it to be a bit irritated and dried out, but it’s so gentle on the skin. My skin just looks and feels so much healthier.
My skin is clear now, but I’m actually still using the product every day. I use it pretty much all over my face, especially in the areas where I know I’m prone to breakouts to keep the bacteria at bay. I’d like to think of it as a preventative measure, and find no harm in using it every day. Having acne is one less thing I’d like to worry about right now, thank you very much.
The Positively Clear is on sale for £179, and you can use the code APC45BL for a further £45 off! Plus, use the code AFEGKZ for 12% off all orders.
I know I can’t make the stress go away right now, but I can at least make sure my skin looks flawless as I’m slowly dying inside. 😉

I’d be really interested in trying this as I’ve heard of blue light being used by dermatologists, too. My skin still bugs me and makes me pretty self-conscious because I would have thought I’d have had clearer skin by my age (29!) so I’m always on the look out for something new to try. Good point about not keeping it in the same place for too long because of heat & redness, the same thing applies with the IPL hair removal thingybobby I’ve got. Great review & thanks for sharing, will go & investigate this one!
I’m going to be 27 and I seriously thought my breakout days were behind me. Isn’t that supposed to be the ONE perk of aging?! I can’t recommend the Tria Positively Clear enough! You will still notice a tiny bit of redness, but not a lot, I swear. And it goes away super quick. It’s really gentle on the skin! And it honestly just feels so nice too – I find it relaxing just sitting there and doing it, lol!

I thought clear skin would be a perk of ageing too… I was wrong! Good to hear it’s relaxing and straightforward to use as well, that makes a difference because we can waste so much time and money on things that aren’t effective or pleasant to use/do just to help our skin. x
