Okay, so I definitely meant to start doing a weekly bumpdate a lot earlier in my pregnancy, but completely forgot to. So I figured now might be a good start, especially since I’ve reallyyyyy started showing! The bump has officially made its debut.
I can’t believe I’m already 18 (almost 19!) weeks pregnant. This whole pregnancy thing is so bizarrely slow, yet flying by at the same exact time. It’s a bit surreal.
I had my second midwife appointment yesterday. It started off as a group appointment with a few other moms-to-be and then afterwards we had one-on-one consultations with the midwifes to go over our blood results, screening results, and general questions. I, of course, had a million because I am the most paranoid pregnant lady on this earth.
How Far Along: 18 weeks + 4 days
Gender: Unknown, but we definitely think it’s a boy! Although the rest of the family seems to think girl, lol. We shall see!
How I’m Feeling: All in all, I’m feeling a lot better. The hyperemesis gravidarum seems to have gone away (hopefully for good), and I can actually enjoy food again! Thank god. I’m getting my energy back, which is good as well. Right now, I’m just dealing with all of the aches and pains associated with the second trimester. Round ligament pain is an absolute bitch.
Cravings: I don’t really think I’m experiencing very many cravings at the moment. But if I really had to try and choose one, it would be ham and cheese paninis. I seem to order one everywhere we go! Probably because of the cheese. So maybe it’s just a cheese craving…
Movement: I’ve definitely started feeling baby move over the past couple of weeks. It was very subtle in the beginning, and to be honest I couldn’t tell if it was baby or gas, lol. Now, I can definitely tell when it’s baby! It ranges from little flutters, to what I can only describe as fluid-like motion, like the teeeeeeeniest little waves sometimes.
Maternity Clothes: So, I’ve made it a point not to buy TOO many maternity clothes. For starters, I’m not that big, and I just can’t justify spending money on a whole new wardrobe that I’m only going to get a few months out of. The only things that I have bought are some maternity/nursing leggings, tank tops, and bras and underwear.
How We’re Preparing For Baby: We’re not. LOL, just kidding. At the moment, we haven’t bought anything for baby. I think we’re just MENTALLY preparing, more than anything. We’re a bit paranoid, and feel like buying (or doing) anything at the moment is “tempting fate”. Plus, we don’t know what we’re having yet, so we’d rather wait until after we find out.
Looking Forward To: We have our anomaly scan in two weeks, and we’ll be able to find out the gender at it! Though I’m going to ask the technician to write it down instead, so we can have a gender reveal with my family when we go to visit at the end of this month.
