Do you have the travel bug? I think we all do after this year! I can’t wait to be able to travel again. I’ve been very fortunate to visit several beautiful places over the past few years, and I’ve been spending time recently reminiscing about those trips, looking back on old travel photos, trinkets and souvenirs.
Although we’re not in our own house yet, I’ve already been thinking of ways to incorporate our past trips into our home decor by doing things like…
FILL HOLIDAY JARS
If you want to display your travel trinkets then why not think about having a holiday jar? You just have to make sure that you make each jar big enough so that it can hold things like a local map, a postcard or even a restaurant card. You can also store things such as travel tickets and entry passes if you want. Any tickets you have kept by going to museums can also be added as this is all a sign that you have loved your travels and made the most out of your journey from start to finish. I’ve saved so many tickets from our past travels that I’ll definitely be doing something like this!
BUY A SCRATCH MAP
I have seen so many of these online at very affordable prices! It’s easy to mount it on your wall and then scratch each country off as you return. This is a fantastic way for you to remember all of the journeys you have made, and it is a good way for you to get encouraged about visiting new countries as well. I’d love to get one of these and make it a family tradition when Aidan is older, having him scratch off the places he’s been.
CREATE A TRAVEL WALL
This one is very easy because the only thing that you need to do is print out some of your favourite travel photos and buy some photo frames in bulk. Choose a nice stretch of wall, whether it’s your stairs or even your hallway and then hang the ones that excite you. One tip would be for you to print and frame the coordinates of your favourite trip, or even where you and your loved one met. If you do this then you will be able to make your journey feel much more treasured and special.
CREATE A DEDICATED TRAVEL SHELF
There is truly something magical about keeping your travel guides. Sure, there’s tons of information out there but at the end of the day, nothing quite compares to pouring over a nice and chunky travel book. Adding them to a shelf, along with some travel photos is the best way for you to show the journey you have had from start to finish and it also helps you to remember those happy memories. If you have ever been to say, Los Angeles, then you can also get Los Angeles themed coasters or other items and display on the shelf as well. If you want to make it more special, then you can also frame some of your photos and put them on there.
TRAVEL COOKBOOKS
When you go travelling, you will soon find that you can have the best culinary experience. The food is always one of my favourite parts of travelling! If you want to make sure that you have the best memories from your holiday or if you want to showcase where you have been, then why not invest in some cookery books? When you do this, you can easily make your favourite treats while you are at home and display the books in your kitchen or dining room as a reminder of your adventures when not in use.
If you have any ideas, I’d love to hear them!
