Some Recent Bank Holiday Purchases

Over the past few weeks (particularly this past Bank Holiday Weekend), I have been on the hunt for some goodies for two separate occasions.  We have a wedding to attend next weekend, and a trip to Spain planned (that’s slowly approaching us in just a few weeks’ time).  These have been my excuses to go out almost every weekend to look for a dress and shoes for the wedding, as well as some clothes for Spain.  I left almost all of my summer clothes in the U.S., so I have to basically rebuild my wardrobe (am I complaining about this?  No, but my husband is).  I could technically have asked my younger sister to bring some of the stuff from New Jersey with her, but uh, nah I’d rather go shopping #Ihaveaproblem.

While I still have not found a pair of shoes (they’re such a pain in the ass to shop for since I broke my foot TWICE), I did manage to find a dress for the wedding, score!  I found this gorgeous floral maxi dress at Lipsy London in the Lakeside Shopping Centre on Sunday.  More pictures of that will be on the blog at a later time – I’m hoping to get some nice pictures in it, because the dress is GORGEOUS.  Also, it was only like £45 and I can definitely see myself wearing it again to other functions, so it was definitely a great purchase!  You’ll have to wait to check out some snaps of it next week on my Insta.

In addition to the dress, I picked up some goodies at New Look & Superdrug (as always – you can’t keep me away from the place!).  Thank god for Bank Holiday sales.

Over the weekend, I’m embarrassed to admit that (both Steve and I) got terrible sunbed burns!  They replaced the bulbs, and we were a bit cocky in thinking that we could handle more than we really could.  Lesson learned.  Although I’d like to point out that I did go in for a shorter amount of time than I normally do – so at least I tried.  My burn faded very quickly, but Steve’s didn’t.  So when we walked into Superdrug I immediately saw the Banana Boat Aloe Gel and scooped it up and into my basket.  This stuff really does work wonders.  I plan on buying a million travel size bottles and filling them ALL up with it for Spain.  I also picked up these Solait tanning wipes (which work really well – which is great, because they were BOGO and will definitely get some use out of them), and more Piz Buin Aftersun Tan Intensifier because we go through SO MUCH of this between the two of us.  And obviously I couldn’t help pickup some cute nail polish so I can pretend I’ll be a girl and use it and have perfect mani/pedis all summer LOL good one, Laur.  I chose the Maybelline SuperStay Gel in “Mint for Life” and Maybelline ColorShow in “Orange Attack” to match the dress for the wedding (can’t find the exact color online).

In New Look, I found these sunglasses, so I can now retire the “bug-eye” sunglasses, as Steve calls them.  I must say, they are more comfortable than my other pair – they don’t put as much pressure on the bridge of my nose as the other ones, so that’s a plus!  Also picked up this adorable cami top on clearance (reallyyyyy need to lay off the cakes and do more crunches now).

I’m sure I’m like every other girl that absolutely loves the floppy sunhats with the writing on them seen all over Instagram.  I’ve looked at a few across different websites, and some of them are pricey!  That’s why I was so excited to find this sunhat on Amazon at a cheaper price!  It’s not a Bank Holiday buy, but I felt the need to include it because it’s SO. CUTE.

This weekend, I’ll be heading out (yet again), to look for some shoes.  I need some recommendations for shoes (flat or small heel) that are comfortable AND cute, please and thank you!

xx Lauren
