CitizenM Hotel Paris Review

If you read my earlier post about our honeymoon, you’ll know that we ended our trip with two amazing nights in Paris.  During this time, we stayed at CitizenM Gare de Lyon in Paris. It was pretty much the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at. I normally don’t go out of my way to review places like this, but this hotel just blew me and my husband away.

We chose CitizenM because of a few factors:

  1. Location – It was right next to the station, which was perfect for travelling in, out, and around Paris.
  2. Price – While not the absolute cheapest place we’ve ever stayed, it was definitely affordable.
  3. Appearance – Not gonna lie, most of the reason we chose it was because it looked really cool!

From what I read online, it’s a Netherlands-based boutique hotel chain.  I absolutely love boutique hotels – they always have a little “something” extra that normal hotel chains just don’t.

The check-in process was super easy – all you had to do was input your information into the check-in computer, load your room key card and you were good to go!  They had a lot of staff members there to help in case you aren’t exactly tech-savvy.

When we booked the hotel, we wrote in the special notes section of the booking that it was our honeymoon, so we’d like something special.  To be honest, I feel like hotels never listen to what people write in those things. I’ve written notes to hotels on countless occasions, that went unnoticed.  Needless to say, we were pleasantly surprised that they listened!

Upon entering our room, we were met with balloons, a large red bow, and a lovely note congratulating us with an offer for free drinks at the bar.  It was the cutest thing ever.

The room was rather compact, but the way it was designed, you don’t feel like it’s too crowded.  Also, the amenities absolutely make up for the small size. All of their rooms are smart rooms – everything from the tv to the lighting was controlled using an iPad – we had so much fun playing with everything.  It even had ambient lighting!  I wish I had gotten more pictures, but you know…I was on my honeymoon.  Anyway.

The hotel has plenty of bars, room service, etc., should you wish to grab a drink or bite to eat.  Since we had a free drink voucher, we decided to head to the bar on the main floor to grab a drink.  They had a great selection, and a lovely sitting area in the lobby to relax by the fireside.

All in all, we had an amazing stay at the CitizenM.  It’s impeccably designed, and had literally the best customer service I’ve ever had.  I definitely want to stay again!
