Holiday In Spain Pt. III: Seville

Wrapping up this little “mini-series” (see Pt. 1 & Pt. 2) is the final stop on our trip:  Seville.  Thank god we had a relaxing time in Cordoba, because we needed all the energy we could muster!  Like, I’m talking 12 hour days of walking around and exploring for 3 days.  It was so exhausting, but so worth it.

As you can see, my obsession with random buildings and streets followed me all the way to Seville.

There are 3 things in Seville that you MUST SEE (which of course were the reasons we went).  Those are:  Catedral de Sevilla, Plaza de España, and the Real Alcázar.  We were sooooo excited to see these!  A word of advice though – make sure you book the Catedral de Sevilla and Real Alcázar ahead of time.  They book up quick, and the lines are HORRENDOUS.

It actually took us two days to get into the Cathedral because they didn’t have the most *helpful* signs with opening times…ANYWAY.  The Cathedral is gorgeous.  It’s one of the largest Gothic cathedrals in the world, and took over 100 years to build.  The place is MASSIVE, guys.  It took such a long time to go through, and it has SO MUCH history in it.  It was so interesting.  I normally don’t take pictures inside of cathedrals and churches, but I made one exception for this “little” piece of history.  Which happens to be one of the Cathedral’s main attractions.

That, my friends, is the tomb of Christopher Columbus.  CHRISTOPHER.  FREAKIN. COLUMBUS.  I had no idea when going here that his tomb was in this cathedral (I clearly didn’t do my research well enough before we left).  So, apparently, there’s a lot of “mystery” surrounding his burial site, and whether or not that’s even actually HIM inside that tomb.  Several areas, including Havana, claim to have the real remains.  But Seville insists that these are, in fact, the bones of our pal Chris, after testing the DNA against his brother (who is most definitely buried in the Cathedral).  Interesting.

Our next stop was Plaza de España.  Here, we wandered around and took in the beautiful architecture while trying not to die from the heat (for the first time in our trip – as I said, the weather was gorgeous!).

We also sat and watched flamenco dancers perform – my sister and I loved it!  And I now want to learn flamenco dancing, lolz.

How gorgeous is that?  And the fact that there was a rainbow in the fountain made the shot even more perfect!

Just some shots of some more AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS food because, lol is it even a vacation blog post if you didn’t document what you ate?  Spain has seriously spoiled me with their food and nothing else will ever compare.

Now, I’m about to spam a shitload of pictures of the most beautiful place I’ve ever been to.  Like, I want to model my house after it (lol if we can ever get on the property ladder).  And not only is it fucking gorgeous, but a lot of you will recognize it from….yup, you guessed it – GAME OF THRONES.  The Real Alcázar is where the scenes in Dorne were filmed.  And you can see why, because, as I said – it’s breathtakingly beautiful.

Stillll going, guys.  I’d apologize if you were getting sick of seeing these, but you’re probably not, and either way I don’t really care.

I thought the Alhambra was stunning, but this place just blew me away.  It was opulent, breathtaking, stunning – words and pictures don’t do it justice.  The palace also has huge gardens that seem to go on forever.  We booked the general admission tickets, but there is an option to view even MORE of the palace.  If you want to pay a bit more, you can also gain entry to the Cuarto Real Alto, which is the section of the palace where the past kings and queens lived.  I would have loved to have seen that, and we did actually try to book it, but it was sold out for weeks!  So if you want to see even more of it, definitely buy your tickets well in advance.

The entire trip to Spain was absolutely incredible.  And exhausting.  Looking back, it’s hard to believe that we did the amount we did in, like, 5-6 days.  We really are ones to cram in everything we can possibly do into a vacation!  It was worth it, and we all enjoyed every second of it.

Now, I need a vacation FROM that vacation…

xx Lauren
